Our Family Genealogy Pages

Welcome!

We haven't been researching our genealogy for very long and pretty much everything we have is from census, birth, marriage and death information online. We have mainly used Ancestry.co.uk, IGI, ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk and FreeBMD. More recently this has been extended to other people sharing information too.

Please note that the further back in time we get the more conjecture is used. We have tried to make notes explaining the validity of some of the sources and are quite happy with the information in general.

Births dates for individuals are sometimes a date given for a christening. Also, death dates could actually be burial dates.

Our primary family names are: Wallace, Mara, Smith and Shambrook. We also have a lot of the following names: Swain, Sharp, Aylott, Keary, Climie, Turner, Honeybul, Felstead and Swallow as well as many others.

Many thanks to Catherine Pritchard, Catharine Andriani, Doreen Furby, Bill Jones, Alan Swain, Tony Climie, Leanne Chilver, our families and everyone else who has helped (sorry if I haven't mentioned you).

I have been using Family Tree Maker software to collate my information. I'm not sure it is the best package on the market. I can however thoroughly recommend the TNG web software used.

Report on the death of Robert Mara

I have found reports on the death of Robert Mara in the local Croydon newspapers. He was knocked down by a bread van in 1924. The Croydon Times report can be found here.

The Shambrook Family

The name Shambrook arrived in England after the Norman Conquest of 1066.

The Wallace Family

The Wallace Family Coat of Arms can trace its roots back to ancient times.
